It’s Okay To Have Insecurities

I feel as though the internet is littered with motivational quotes set out to make the insecure feel confident. However, whether it’s just be my personal opinion, I feel as though the mass amount of motivation and cheesy quotes with pictures of models with perfect skin with a quote of ‘motivation’ plastered over the top, almost patronising.

I mean, don’t get me wrong I think its absolutely enlightening to see so much love and motivation fluttering around on the internet, especially considering how much hate and torment can occur on the internet nowadays. I just feel as though all these images are telling girls/boys to not have these insecurities ‘because everyone is beautiful’ yadda yadda. However how is using a model as an example of this encouraging? How is that making someone appreciate their; skin, body, hair and etc. It makes me feel like I have more insecurities, but them I’m repetitively being told that I don’t have anything to worry about and that I shouldn’t have those insecurities about myself.

Everyone has insecurities, most probably even the models that young girls completely indulge themselves in ‘i must have eyebrows like this, I must have hair like this, I must have a body like this” I think it’s nice to see people appreciating other aspects of somebody else. Those things that we idolise about others may be their insecurities, I’m sure there’s people out there that think you have amazing hair or glowing skin and vice versa.

The point that I’m trying to make is that It’s OKAY to have insecurities, although people may tell you not to worry about those things and you shrug them off and focus on something else. Everyone else has insecurities so why doesn’t everyone appreciate and respect that, rather than striving to be in image of perfection? Just a thought..
