So, If you follow me on Instagram (blushandnoise) you will know that I recently made a very naughty Sephora order! I’ve been wanting to try some of the Kat Von D Beaty range for SO long now, however living in the UK, I don’t have the connivence of being able to just waltz into a Sephora and fill my boots! However every-time I went on the Sephora website, I just couldn’t bring myself to make a purchase! However sometimes you quite literally just have to bite the bullet and do it! So I thought I’d share the exciting bits from the Kat Von D range and what I think of them so far!
There’s also going to be some make-up looks and full in-depth reviews of these products, so be sure to stay tuned if you’re interested in seeing how I’ve been playing with these products to create looks and what not and what the products look like on my skin tone, they’re up and coming!
SHADE & LIGHT CONTOUR PALETTE
I’ve personally don’t own a contour palette, however I own a fair amount of contour powders. So you’re probably thinking ‘Why did you need this’ however I thought something like this would be really handy for traveling over the Summer! Although obviously all of these shades aren’t going to match my skin tone, I thought I could double them up and use them as eyeshadows or even brow powders, as the contour palette is entirely matte.
From swatching the shades, the colours are really pigmented in both the contour shades and the highlight shades, which is inevitably what you want from a palette isn’t it! They’re really bendable also, for instance when I first applied some of the contour powder to my cheekbones, I applied way too much as I underestimated just how pigmented they where, however when I started the treacherous task of then attempting to blend the powder, I was pleasantly surprised, it blended evenly and very easily so I wasn’t left looking like I’d been lying in the sun a little too long!
EVERLASTING LIQUID LIPSTICK | LOLITA, BOW ‘N’ ARROW & LOVESICK
This is where it all gets a little bit exciting as I’ve been lusting over these liquid lipsticks for some time now! Let’s be real, every beauty blogger or beauty fanfic around the world cannot leave Sephora without one of these in their shopping bag, it’s a fact, I just know it is! This is where I get all crazy blogger on you guys, but when I held these in my hands for the first time, not going to lie but I felt a happiness that I’m only assuming a mother feels when she holds her child
The shades I picked up were Lolita, which is described as a ‘Chestnut Rose’ and Bow ‘N’ Arrow which is described as a ‘Fawn Nude’ and Lovesick, which is described as a ‘Mauve Pink’ I love how these lipsticks apply, they’re quite creamy and they don’t dry too quickly, so you’re not rushing your application what so ever, you can simply apply it to perfection without dealing with it drying when you’ve made a mistake and then you’ve ever got to overdraw your lips and risk looking like someone from RuPaul’s Drag Race! The colours are overwhelmingly pigmented, literally those swatches below are pretty much one thin stroke of the product, have you ever seen anything like it?
In terms of the lipsticks being everlasting, I must say that I agree with that statement on some terms. For example, if you apply the product to the back of your hand, you’re going to have it there all day as water isn’t going to make it budge! But in comparison to when the product is on your lips, I can only say that it’s everlasting to some degree, the colour of the product stays on your lips, there’s no doubt about that, however I found that the matte yet light finish of the lipsticks didn’t last, when you’re eating and drinking and just generally really putting these lipsticks to the test, the product clung to the dry areas on my lips, which personally doesn’t really bother me because I’m fine with going to the bathroom and sorting it out, but you do still have to keep this product handy for touch ups throughout the day!
