TRAINER-PHOBE

Trainers, sneakers, whatever you want to call them, are an item that I’ve never overly been into. I absolutely love how some people style them in a way that really captures what modern street style really is. However I’m not a girl who fits in with the phrases ‘cool’ or ‘street’ therefore trainers are something I own a handful of pairs of, however I very rarely wear them, purely because I’m not sure how to style them in a way that suits my personal style. Lately I’ve been really trying to make an effort to incorporate trainers into my everyday wardrobe, I’m constantly wearing shoes that hurt my feet, just because I like the way they look but since I’ve been attempting to style trainers, I’ve never been so appreciative of the comfort that they provide! So, here’s a way I’ve been styling my Adidas Gazelles, in case you’re a ‘trainer-phobe’ like me!

TOP : ASOS, SKIRT : TOPSHOP, BELT : ASOS, SHOES : ADIDAS GAZELLES, FISHNETS : ASOS

My main struggle with trainers is probably their lack of femininity, a lot of the outfits I wear are floaty and quite 60’s/70’s inspired, so I find that trainers don’t really fit the bill when it comes to matching my outfits. I’ve always been somewhat scared from wearing dresses and trainers, as the fear of looking like a young Lily Allen (back in the day I thought she was SO cool) however now I feel as though the laid back style that Lily Allen had in the 2000’s is well and truly back in style, however this time with a super cool Scandinavian twist, it’s quite hard to get your head around it right?

With this outfit, I was adamant for it to look ‘cool’ and as thought I hadn’t really made an effort, even though I spent a decent amount of time trying outfits on and showing them to my boyfriend like “Do I look cool yet?” To be honest, my boyfriend is the person who really encourages me to wear my trainers, probably because he can’t quite handle having to give me piggy backs everywhere because my loafers have given me sore feet! I thought wearing a classic stripey tee, however with a bit of a twist with the on trend frills, paired with a vintage wash denim skirt was a real safe, yet cool combination to opt for! I then decided to grunge it up a little bit with some fish net tights, which are perfect if you’re like me and you want to keep cool this Summer, however you’re a little unsure of getting your hideously pale legs out for all to see!

Brilliant and love how you added the trainers to this look 😉 like you, I was never a trainers gal either, because I could never pull off the cool vibe! But I've been really diggin' them lately as well, with my maroon NB's which a unimaginably comfortable (so lightweight than all my shoes put together) and it actually matches all of my outfits, even a dress! Your jacket is so cute too! <3 that blue woooohoo. AND I LOVE YOUR CHOKER (??!) thing! Cherie | sinonym

I too am a self confessed trainer-phobe! My pair of choice were some stan smiths but you style the gazelles so well, I really love the outcome. xelectraviolet.co.uk

Love this, you definitely pull them off! I'm quite the same when it comes to trainers so I feel inspired to start styling them up too, they're so comfy <3Andini xx | Adventures of an Anglophile
