MY PERSONAL STYLE EVOLUTION

January naturally brings reflection into pretty much all of our lives. Throughout 2016 my personal style definitely changed as I began to express myself through my clothing and dress how I wanted to, rather than trying to be super glam and perfect like the majority of bloggers. ‘Glam’ and ‘Perfect’ are two words that I wouldn’t even dare associate myself with, so what’s the point in pretending?

Throughout 2016, I really began to experiment with what suited me. The last 5-6 years, I’ve dressed in dark clothing and hid behind the dull colours that I wore. However, 2016 has brought so much colour and experimentation into my life,  I felt as though it was worthy of a blog post. If you look back at my style posts from the beginning of 2016, I’m wearing a lot a black and clothing that’s quite ‘safe’ I basically dressed so I wouldn’t catch anyone’s attention, but if you look at my style post from the end of the year, I’m rocking leopard print and walking around in a bright orange faux fur coat. I’ve definitely came a long way, to say the least – And I’m loving it!

DISCOVERING WHAT I’M INTO

I think I’ve always been into the same styles and trends from the day I began dressing myself. However, I think when you actively read blogs and admire the personal style of others, sometimes it’s very easy to put your style down and feel as though you’re not doing something right.

I’ve always loved the 60’s and 70’s. The colours, the textures and the patterns have always attracted me. So, why not wear them? I mean, I don’t have the best self-confidence around, but there’s nothing that makes me happier than when I feel good in what I’m wearing, although my confidence may not be sky high, at least I feel good! I began venturing into colour with patterned shirts, whether it be just a hint of a colour running throughout the pattern, I think a patterned shirt is a good place to start if you’re trying to get out of your monochromatic comfort zone. If you’re a lover of the 70’s, like myself, a paisley shirt will do your wardrobe the world of good. When I’m not in the mood to select an outfit that makes me feel sassy AF, I whack on a paisley shirt and an A-line skirt and you instantly look put together.

SHOP MY STYLE

Here’s to another year of push myself out of my comfort zone, wearing more colour and living like I’m wearing my Grandma’s retro hand-me-downs!
