I consider myself a bit of a makeup novice. I mean, considering I LOVE makeup, I ain’t no Nicki Tutorials, that’s for sure. Over the past few months, I’ve been putting less effort into my makeup and attempting to focus on my skincare. So that I can refine the amount of base makeup products that I use and make my makeup routine quicker and more efficent.
I’m sure by now, you’ve heard the buzz about the It Cosmetics CC Cream, with products like this that create such a huge buzz and the amount of ‘perfect skin’ claims that occur alongside the praise that this little product is getting. So, I hunted the bad boy down and decided to try it for myself, was it worth the hype? And does it have any cons for people like me, who have sensitive oily to combination skin? Here’s what I thought…
Now that It Cosmetics is somewhat available on QVC and Selfridges here in the UK – I say somewhat because getting your hands on the CC cream is JUST as hard, due to it’s high praise. It only made sense for me to get in on the hype now that It’s accessible to me. I got my hands on the CC Cream in the shade Fair, after I obsessively stalked it on QVC for about 2 months. Fair seemed to be the only shade that was continuously sold out, so just a little not for any pale gals and guys like myself, if you see Fair in stock at any point, get it before it’s gone.
I have quite problematic skin, and I find that whenever I use heavy duty foundations, the texture of my skin looks even worse. It’s as though every lump or dry area is enhanced. Which results in me feeling even worse when wearing makeup than I do without it. Although overall I do agree that this product is a complete dream, here’s the in-depth pros and cons that I’ve discovered over the past few months of trying out the CC cream.
PRODUCT PROS
The It Cosmetics CC cream has some serious pros, I can definitely see why it’s loved may the thousands, including myself.
– IT FEELS LIKE SKIN
One of the features that really puts this CC cream up on my ranking is the fact that it’s so lightweight and blendable. It’s not heavy in the slightest and it doesn’t make your skin feel cakey and plastic. The product blends into your skin effortlessly and actually looks like skin – Obviously skin that is a lot more flawless and even, but still skin nonetheless
– SPF 50
I am all about that SPF life. I wear some sort of SPF on my skin every day, no matter what the weather may be. Let’s just say I’ve had a few sun burn horror stories as a teenager and it’s left my skin, especially on my face in terrible condition. Therefore now I’m extra cautious about the products that I buy and SPF is a massive bonus to me. The It Cosmetics CC Cream is the first product that I’ve come across that SPF 50 and not thick and heavy when applied.
– GOOD COVERAGE
This product claims to be a high coverage cream, that it is indeed. I’ve used CC creams before, however, I’ve always been so underwhelmed by them, they’ve always been SO oily and never benefited my skin with their coverage. With this CC cream, my skin tone looks even and the majority of my blemishes are unnoticeable.
– ANTI AGEING PROPERTIES
Products nowadays seem to be very tailored for either younger skin and older skin. There’s a huge difference with how anti-ageing products are marketed. However, I don’t think anti-ageing products should just be advertised to those with older skin. Prevention is easier than curing. I’d rather look after my skin now, and ensure it’s getting all the anti aging goodness that it needs, so that my skin is maintained, rather than having to search for these products in 10 years time when my skin begins to look worse for wear.
PRODUCT CONS
Despite the CC cream being an absolute dream, it does have a handful of cons…
– NOT MAJORLY LONG LASTING FOR OILY SKIN
The CC cream is 100% tailored more for dry skin types, which is so annoying. I love the product so much, however, it’s just not as long lasting as I’d like it to be. The coverage is definitely there, however, after a few hours you can see the intense redness of my cheeks and any blemishes/ spots are visible yet again. This is probably down to the fact I don’t have the best skin ever, but that’s exactly why I’m wearing the CC cream in the first place. Maybe someday in the future, they will create an oil-free version of the product and then we’re talking!
– SHADE RANGE IS SMALL
Although I think that ‘Fair’ is a pretty decent colour match for me, there doesn’t seem to be much consideration for varied skin tones and undertones. It’s your usual Fair – Dark kind of colour spectrum. No consideration of how fair is fair and how dark is dark, or the different undertones that everyone has. Once again, this is a con that is hopefully already in the pipeline of creation. It’s just a shame we’re unable to get the product in stores so that we can try the shades against our skin before we buy.
Overall, I think that the It Cosmetics CC cream is a true gift to the makeup world. It’s not just a CC cream, it’s a sun cream and a bit of anti aging skin care too. A product that doesn’t really have an age limit, and provides beautiful and seamless coverage. I’m looking forward to trying more It Cosmetics products, I definitely have a lot of faith in this brand after trying the CC cream.
