TRAVEL MAKEUP BAG ESSENTIALS

The week has finally arrived! On Friday I’m going to be jetting off to New York for 5 days of being an embarrassing tourist, picture Joey from Friends when he visits London, however in New York. Yep, that’s going to be me. With going to New York, obviously I’m going to be having a little Sephora spree, therefore, I don’t want to over pack my makeup bag on the way there, because it’s highly likely I’m going to let my wallet do the talking in Sephora and come home with a lot more makeup than intended.

So I thought I’d compile and condense my makeup bag, and share with you some of the essential products that I will 100% be brining along with me. These products are trust worthy and I know they’ll serve my justice no matter what the weather may be like in New York, as you never really know until you’re there, do you?

When it comes to packing, I either over pack to the point I question my sanity and wonder why I even have that much stuff in the first place, or I pack thinking I’ve got everything I need, then as soon as I step on the plane, train, car, bus, whatever your mode of transport may be,  I realise that I’ve forgotten all the things that I actually need because I’ve spent so much time faffing over fearing that I’ve over packed. It’s a vicious cycle, however, this time I’m determined to be the queen of efficient packing, starting with my makeup bag of course!

IT COSMETICS CC CREAM – FAIR

As you’re probably aware by now, I love this stuff! It’s really taken the beauty world by storm and it seems as though EVERYONE is talking about it and I’ve only heard positive things.  I’ve done a little review on it a few weeks ago, as I really wanted to put the product to the test on my awkward, combination skin, and I’m still using it and loving it. It’s pretty much taken the top mark against all my other foundations. I love that it’s SPF 50, which means your skin is protected no matter what the weather may be, the last thing you want when you’re on holiday, is having to spend time applying suncream before your makeup, you’ve got a 2-in-1 and it means you can dash out the door and explore in no-time at all.

URBAN DECAY NAKED ULTIMATE BASICS

I’ve had this palette since December and it’s currently my most used palette ever. All of the shades are matte, which results in it being super versatile. Whether you’re using the palette alone to create a look, or you’re combining it with your favourite shimmers for a more glamorous look, the palette has truly filled a gap within my makeup collection, there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t use it. The palette consists of warm shades and cool shades, however, they all work so well together, it’s the only palette I’ve been reaching for recently. So I will freeing up some makeup bag space by including this dreamy palette in my travel makeup bag.

URBAN DECAY NAKED SKIN CONCEALER – FAIR NEUTRAL

There’s so many concealers that I’m desperate to try so my visit to New York will be welcoming some new concealers to the makeup squad. However, just in case I don’t find them or I don’t like them, my trusted Naked Skin Concealer will be coming with me. I’ve used this concealer since December and since then, I cannot get enough of it and I’m currently powering through my second bottle. This concealer hides dark circles and blemishes so well. It’s honestly so hard for me to find a high coverage concealer that works well with my combination/oily skin, however, since using this I’ve not really been reaching for any other concealer and we all know how much I love the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer, which I haven’t used in AGES. That says a lot!

HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING POWDER – DIFFUSED LIGHT

I genuinely cannot explain how many people compliment my skin when I wear this powder. The condition of my skin has never been too bad, however, I have very transparent skin, so when a blemish, spot or mark appears, It usually results in scarring, which makes me ridiculously self-conscious. This powder adds such a beautiful finish to the skin, it almost makes my skin appear air brushed. The powder adds such a beautiful glow, however, it still mattifies my oily skin at the same time. Despite the hefty price tag to this powder, it’s been worth every penny so far, therefore It’s coming with me to New York as it makes me feel so much better about my skin.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILM STAR BRONZE & GLOW – LIGHT

This bronze and highlight duo from Charlotte Tilbury was genuinely created by angles. The powders are so soft and blend in the blink of an eye. So when it comes to contouring in no time at all so that we can get out the door and explore, this is the duo I’m going to be reaching for. As you can see, it’s so well loved. The highlight powder is also simply divine, you only need the smallest amount for such a beautiful soft but radiant highlight.

THE BODY SHOP INSTA BLUR PRIMER

When it comes to a city break, you obviously want your makeup to stay all day long. I  personally want fuss free makeup that I can just forget about, but still look presentable. Having oily skin means that makeup tends to slide off my face in no time at all, so I always opt for a primer that will keep the oils and bay and prolong my makeup wear. I’ve tried a lot of primers and never really found one that I completely adore. The Body Shop Insta Blur isn’t no ground breaking primer if I’m at all honest, however, it has that air brush finish and my makeup seems to last just that little bit longer.

MAYBELLINE COLOUR SENSATIONAL MATTE – BIEGE BABE

Not going to lie, I’m going to be taking more than one lipstick because I’m a lipstick lover and just one isn’t going to cut it. During the daytime, however, I want a colour that is natural and won’t cause any fuss throughout the day. As you probably know, I LOVE the Maybelline Colour Sensational Matte Lipsticks. The shade range is amazing and I’ve been loving their new shade realises and ‘Beige Babe’ is one of them. It’s such a beautiful well, beige colour as the name so obviously suggests. They’re not the most long lasting lipsticks ever, however, paired with a brown/pink lip liner, you end up with a lovely wash of colour throughout the day.

I’m so excited to be off to New York on Friday! There will only be one blog post this week, as I’ve got SO MUCH New York related content to pop up when I arrive home, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
