Is Revolution Pro Worth The Hype?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Makeup Revolution have released a new brand, Revolution Pro. It seems as though it’s take the internet and the beauty world by storm, their affordable makeup is duping and rivalling the high-end brands such as Mac, Too Faced and Charlotte Tilbury.  Makeup Revolution have really upped their game over the past couple of months and their product quality seems to be getting better and better.

Revolution Pro was released earlier this year and it seemed the focus was pinned upon the Camouflage foundation and concealer. After seeing the hype on Instagram and 101 makeup tutorials using the products, I decided to test them out for myself and see what the fuss was all about.

I purchased the shade C1, which is the lightest shade and aimed at fair/neutral skin tones. I have a slight pink undertone, however, I do prefer slightly more neutral shades for concealer as they hide any redness or dark circles that little bit better. The concealer comes in 18 shades, which I think is amazing. More and more brands are progressively tailoring their shade range to really fair skin tones and darker skin tones. It baffles me that it’s taken so long for the beauty industry to introduce wider shade ranges. It’s amazing that Revolution have adapted themselves to this from the get-go!

The concealer is quite thick once squeezed onto the back of my hand. However, the consistency is pretty creamy, without being greasy or lacking pigmentation. I’ve applied the concealer both with a Beauty Blender and a dense buffing brush and I do like how both tools apply the concealer. I prefer the buffing brush as it adds the little bit more coverage when it comes to concealing blemishes and dark circles. The product blends really easily and I can’t fault it on the behalf whatsoever.

I find that creamy concealers crease under my eyes quite easily, however, when it came to this concealer, I didn’t really have that happen. It last really well and didn’t create any excess oils on my skin.

The Camouflage foundation also comes in 18 shades, all shades correspond with the concealers. I went for the shade F3 as like I said, I have a slight pink undertone to my skin. The foundation matched my skin tone pretty much perfectly, which is good going considering I was going off of the descriptions on the Revolution website.

One thing I noticed about the foundation is that the rube doesn’t seem to be full, it’s quite empty in fact. The consistency is similar to the concealer, quite thick and creamy. You definitely receive full coverage with this foundation. I prefer to apply it with a beauty blender, just to really mesh it into the skin nicely and have it look somewhat natural, despite it being full coverage.

After applying the foundation I really loved the coverage and the finish. However, as the day went on, I felt as though areas such as my forehead and chin got rather oily and the foundation started to gather on my nose and look almost flaky. In all honesty, foundations tend to gather on my nose and I’m not too sure why, however, this foundation seemed to do it a lot quicker and add more oil to my skin than usual. The did like how the foundation looked, however, it didn’t last for as long as I would have liked.

I really do love Revolution as a brand and how they’re so broad with their shade rangers. I really do love the concealer and have used it everyday since I bought it. Although I love the initial finish of the foundation, It just doesn’t last as long as I’d want it to. I think I’m going to try it with various primers and powders and see if it helps with the longevity or the product, but at the minute, the foundation isn’t worth the hype. If you’re going to try anything from the new brand, I’d recommend that concealer as I really do love it! It’s an amazing dupe for the Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer!

Tempted to give the concealer a try as my current one just isn't cutting it right now! I have the same problem with things sitting in the creases under my eyes and it drives me mad!Sarah :)Saloca in Wonderland

I definitely need to give some of the pro range a try, the concealer sounds fab. I also get the issue with foundation flaking around my nose and breaking apart with any oil – extremely frustrating! Abi | abistreetx

I honestly haven't heard much about this duo, or much about revolution pro (maybe I've been living under a rock) but I'd love to give these both a try!Lucy | Forever September
