My Lazy Girl Hair Routine With GHD

My Lazy Girl Hair Routine With GHD

When it comes to my hair, I’m extremely low maintenance. I wash my hair 2/3 times a week, go the hairdressers maximum about 2 times a year and you bet, some mornings I don’t even comb a brush through my hair before I leave for work. Let’s just say it’s hobo-chic, if there’s time for me to spend in bed in the morning than that’s my top priority if I’m being honest. Although I’m lazy when it comes to my hair, I do have a small routine that I trust with my life. I like my hair to look beachy and effortless, however, that doesn’t come naturally to me, I have to make effort to look as though I’ve not made any. So, with that being said, I thought I’d share my Lazy Girl Hair Routine with you all.

The amazing GHD team VERY kindly gifted me a pair of their Platinum + Straightening Iron earlier this month and honestly, it’s reduced the time and effort I spend on my hair by about 30 minutes, which has truly been life changing for my lazy self! So, let’s get into it…

Step 1: An Evening Shampoo & Condition.

I prefer to wash my hair during the evening, simply because I attend 3 post-work Personal Training Sessions a week, and I like to get any sweat and grease out of my hair after my sessions. Logic, right? My favourite Shampoo & Conditioner at the moment has been The Body Shop’s Shea Butter Range.

I didn’t personally think the duo would work on my hair, as my hair is insanely oily, and the thought of the Shea Butter just made me think more oils where going to be added, however, this is the best hair wash I’ve had in a while. My hair is so smooth and soft after washing & drying and I feel as though the time it takes for my hair to get greasy again has been prolonged since I’ve been using these products. They’re gentle on my scalp. smell amazing and I just can’t get enough of the duo at the moment.

Once I get out of the shower, I give my hair a good towel dry, brush out the knots and sleep with a towel over my pillow, no heat needed just yet!

Step 2: Straighten & Style with GHD.

As I let my hair dry naturally, when I wake up in the morning, there’s quite a lot of work that needs to be done. I usually wake up with my hair resembling a birds nest and just not looking cute what-so-ever.

My GHD Platinum + Straightening Iron is honestly a life saver in the morning when I need to wake up and sort my hair out in the blink of an eye. The take literally 5 seconds to heat up and glide through my hair like silk. The unique wishbone hinge ensures the plates are perfectly aligned while you style, while the rounder barrel allows you to create curls, waves and the perfect straight with ease. Each plate is precision milled, allowing hair to pass through effortlessly, for snag-free styling. So curling, waving and of course, straightening your hair has never been easier. The Platinum+ styler provides your hair with up to 70% more strength and 20% more shine, so you’re hair can look as though it’s fresh from the salon, even when you’ve just rolled out of bed.

GHD Tips & Tricks I Swear By…

Trick 1: Easy Beachy Waves

Creating waves with the GHD Platinum+ is so quick and easy. I simply grab about an inch section of my hair, and twist the iron from the root of my hair to the tip and slide it down. I use the alternative method of twisting forwards and backwards alternatively for each section to great amazing natural waves. It’s so much quicker than a curling iron and looks so much more natural.

Trick 2: Adding Texture

If you want to add a bit of texture to your hair, however, you don’t want to curl it, I’ve got the perfect tip for you. Starting that the root with your GHD’s twist the iron under, then move it down slightly and twist over, almost creating a crimped effect. Repeat this until you reach the tip of that section and work your way around the rest of your hair. Your hair will have a very subtle wave, just something a little different from wearing it curly or having it completely straight.

Trick 3: The Quick Fix

Usually when I wake up in the morning, I really cannot be bothered to actually straighten all of my hair – Told you, I’m lazy! Once I’ve brushed through my hair, I will put my GHD’s about 3/4 of the way down my hair, pretty much at the tips and roll the iron under and down towards my chin. I repeat this on the edges of the rest of my hair and it basically just neatens everything up without having to straighten my entire head of hair.

Step 3: Texture & Hold

My hair is quite fine, however, I have a lot of it which makes my hair thick yet flat at the same time, it’s very strange. I love having hair full of volume and really love to add some lift into my roots and some texture into my curls to fully complete my whole effortless vibe. I’ve tried to many products over the past few years and I’ve finally found some that actually work for me.

For a lot of my life, I had been using sea salt sprays to add texture to my hair but in all honesty, they just never really achieved what I aimed to when using those products.

You can’t go wrong with a bit of Batiste Dry Shampoo, I simply spray this at the very front of my hair and rub it in, just to refresh the area and create a small amount of volume. Next, I go in with my IGK Beach Club Volumising Texture Spray and really work that into my roots/top of my head. This adds SO much volume and really helps to make any waves/curls look so natural and beachy. To finish up, I spray a small amount of the IGK Dirty Spray into the ends of my hair and lightly tussle the product into my curls, this simply adds so grit to my hair and helps my style stay in until I next wash it.

The Finished Look…

Until next time x
